Edward Sarkisyan

Ed founded Smart Coats while attending Babson College nearly 20 years ago. His dual concentration in entrepreneurship and finance gave him the tools he needed to build Smart Coats and transform it into what is now Smart Build, one of the leading service providers for the Boston area. He actively maintains an array of professional licences and oversees all operations from sales to production in order to ensure that every project completed today is done to the same high standards that he established over a decade ago.

Carter Roman

Carter has been with the business since its inception. He began as a marketing consultant and has assisted with re-branding the company as it has grown over the years. Over time he has transitioned into both sales and project management, learning first hand from our most experienced craftsmen. Carter has served for 2 years as a member of the Board of Directors of the New England Affordable Housing Management Association (NEAHMA). He also leads our networking initiatives such as attending yearly trade shows and industry events, as well as coordinating sponsorship and community service efforts. Carter holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Babson College.

Vanessa Villegas

Vanessa Villegas

Vanessa’s extensive construction background is a valuable addition to the Smart Build Team. Her early exposure to the industry, working alongside her father in his small residential construction company, has laid the foundation for her career path and development. Aspiring for career advancement, she transitioned into Commercial Construction as a Project Manager where she oversaw portfolios up to $20M. Vanessa’s educational background includes degrees in Business and Construction Management as well as Communications. Her diverse skill set plays a crucial role in ensuring that Smart Build’s projects embody the company’s vision and exceed customers’ expectations.

Michelle McDonald

Michelle McDonald

Michelle joined the Smart Build team in 2019 with a 15 year administrative and accounting background, as well as experience in construction. As an Office Administrator she assists executives, managers and supervisors on multiple levels. Michelle brings a versatile skill-set to the team and manages multiple schedules and maintains communication across all teams.

Michael Maccarone

Director of Renovations

Michael Maccarone

Michael grew up in the construction industry working for the family business acquiring, improving and managing multi-family real estate. He attended Bryant College and obtained a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration. In the last 25 years he has worked in different roles in the industry including Director of Facilities, Project Manager, Procurement, Sales and Management on both the regional and national level. Michael enjoys working at Smart Build because he feels his variety of previous experience and knowledge will ultimately benefit the customer. When not at work, you will most likely find Michael with his family camping or out picking for antiques with his wife, Melissa.

Lisa Davis

Business Development

Lisa Davis

Lisa joined the team over 10 years ago. Since then she has been setting the bar for customer assistance. Thanks in no small part to her diligence and persistence Smart Build has been able to develop new relationships with many of the premier property management companies, retail/hotel chains, and educational institutions in the area. Lisa works full time to assist our existing clients and help us to develop new relationships with potential customers across all industries.

Robert Wilburn

Robert Wilburn

Robert graduated from Howe Military School and went on to attain a B.S. in Economics and Political Science from Michigan State University. As a valuable member of our Business Development team, he brings a unique perspective after working in many fields including real estate, mortgage services and home improvement. When Robert is not working to help Smart Build develop and maintain new client relationships, he enjoys gardening, playing poker, watching film and traveling.

With a construction career spanning over 40+ years, Ronnie brings extensive experience and expertise to overseeing renovation projects. From the initial assessment to the final touches, he manages all aspects of the renovation process. Ronnie firmly believes that assembling a skilled team and maintaining a strong work ethic are key to delivering exceptional results.

Matt Bates

Matt is a Rehab Manager with a Certificate of Proficiency in Building and Grounds Management. With over a decade of hands-on experience in both Commercial and Residential Construction, Matt plays a pivotal role in ensuring projects are completed to the highest standards and ensure client satisfaction. Matt is the proud father of three children, including twins! When he is not busy cheering on his son’s hockey team or traveling to cheerleading competitions, he is cheering on his favorite Boston Sports Teams!

Ali Ago

Ali’s multifaceted background has played a key role in his success as a Project Manager. Growing up in a third-generation custom woodworking business and having pursued studies in Computer Engineering, he acquired the skills and attention to detail that ultimately positioned him to undertake custom millwork projects for luxury properties throughout NYC. As his creative talents flourished, it led him towards a new role as the Artistic Director for two prestigious Neiman Marcus Salons. With success in that role, Ali shifted gears and decided to relocate to New Jersey and redirect his career path to his current role as Project Manager. His diverse background has been instrumental in contributing to his professional growth and development.

Kledian is a dedicated Project Manager who thrives on delivering exceptional results. With over 18 years of experience in multi-family renovations, he manages complex projects with meticulous attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills. Outside of work, Kledian has a passion for the world of sports, particularly soccer. His competitive spirit and love for teamwork is channeled both on and off the field.

Melissa Maccarone

Melissa Maccarone

Melissa joins the team with over 21 years of Customer Relations experience. Operating her own business for years in the Medical Industry has given her the ability to build and maintain relationships with clients, ensuring their needs are not only met but exceeding their expectations. Outside of work, Melissa enjoys going antiquing, camping, and spending time with her husband Michael and 2 daughters, Peyton, and Emerson.

David Wolf

David Wolf

Construction runs in David's family. His father was a general contractor and I was raised around the construction business. While he was a high school student, he took classes at night to become an apprentice brick layer. Upon completing the course, he went to College at night and worked days in the family construction business. Eventually, he became a full time college student, and worked in construction during his co-ops. He has been in construction for three decades. David holds a BS from Northeastern University and an MA from Boston College.
